The Eco Committee with Mrs Hancock and Mr Duarte at our  visit last year to the Energy from Waste plant in North Hykeham.

This was taken during the tour of the inside of the plant where they burn waste material (our non-recyclable rubbish) and turn it into power that drives a turbine that creates electricity for homes in the local area.  The dust from the ash after the waste is burnt is used to make road curbstones so there is no waste left.

When we visited the Energy from Waste Plant, there was a competition running for all schools that visited to see which school had the least waste after they had their packed lunches at the Plant.  I am pleased to say that Sally Hood, who took us on the tour of the Plant, told us that we won the 'Waste Free Lunch Challenge" with our zero waste lunches!                                                                      Trish Dawson
